Havana Brown Cat Breed - Facts
The Havana Brown cat breed has a very unclear history. A few cat historians accept that this gorgeous breed happened all because of accidental breeding, while a few others acknowledge that the breeding was deliberately done.
Either way, back in the year 1952 in England, a chocolate-colored kitten was birthed. Then this kitten was given the name of “Elmtower Bronze Idol” and got considered to be one of the very first Havana Brown kittens. The year after that, four other male Havana brown kittens were born. These five cats formed the foundation of the breed.
This breed of cat got its name for its rich and deep brown color of the Havana Cigar. This called for some confusion as many people thought that the color of the cat indicated they originated from Cuba and not England.
A name change was attempted too, but it did not stick around, and the name of the breed was again reverted back to “Havana Brown.”
Their Temperament
These cats are known to be playful, but they like to be left alone too. They indeed like to play with their owners, but at times they love to prefer solitude. Havana Brown cats tend to get close to a single person and stick with them for life.
They are known to be very sociable and friendly creatures and are always curious and interested in everything that happens at home. But just because they are friendly – do not try the pop cat trick on them, then they will paw your face!
They enjoy interacting with humans and will happily spend their time playing on their laps or even engaging themselves in a fierce game of catch the ribbons. They also absolutely love getting brushed or stroked.
If their favorite humans aren’t available for the moment, then they would love to play with the other household pets – both canine and feline(but do keep in mind their friendly nature doesn’t extend to smaller animals like – rodents, fishes, reptiles, and such.). They are child friendly too.

They should be fed measured amounts of nutritious food at regular intervals / fixed times (which is essentially about 2 times a day for adult cats). Making them Free feed can lead to obesity, so you might want to avoid that. If you are unsure about what to feed your cat, then you must consult a breeder or a veterinarian for their expert advice.
